Psychotherapy is primarily a talk-based therapy and is intended to help people improve and maintain their mental health and well-being. Registered Psychotherapists work with individuals, couples and families in individual and group settings. Psychotherapy occurs when the Registered Psychotherapist (RP) and client enter into a psychotherapeutic relationship where both work together to bring about positive change in the client’s thinking, feeling, behaviour and social functioning. Individuals usually seek psychotherapy when they have thoughts, feelings, moods and behaviours that are adversely affecting their day-to-day lives, relationships and the ability to enjoy life.

Hello and Welcome to my page! Bonjour et bienvenue sur ma page! Each individual is unique, deserving of being listened to, supported in their experiences, and accompanied in resolving their challenges and fostering their personal development. Changing past events may not be possible, but learning from these experiences and continuing to grow is achievable. My integrative and holistic approach involves becoming aware of sometimes unconscious mechanisms and habits that affect functioning (thoughts, emotions, and behaviour) and a person’s ability to adapt to difficult situations in their life. Various therapeutic methods will be tailored to your unique needs, respecting your individual pace, and acknowledging the nuanced journey of recovery from different forms of trauma and life adversities.

My approach is also to provide you with a warm, secure, sacred, respectful, and non-judgmental space in which you can express your emotions, thoughts, fears, needs, and even your dreams. Additionally, the therapeutic relationship, which we will develop collaboratively, aims to support you in making the changes you desire across various aspects of your life. I will be there to compassionately accompany you in resolving your difficulties, promoting healing, and fostering your personal growth. Furthermore, I am committed to incorporating culture and spirituality/religion into your therapy sessions, should you choose to explore these dimensions. I believe in embracing your entire being during our sessions, honoring the holistic interconnectedness of your mind, body, heart, and soul.

I am currently accepting new clients and would be happy to offer a free 20-minute phone or video consultation. This session is an opportunity for you to ask any questions about therapy or the process, and for us to explore how I can best support you on your journey. Please feel free to reach out to me via email at amelie@ottawapsychotherapycenter.com to get help booking your session or schedule a consultation. Sessions are available in-person, virtual or by phone, in both English and Français. I look forward to speaking with you!

Kindly, - Amélie

IMPORTANT NOTE RE: SCHEDULING:

Hello, welcome to my online booking scheduler. Feel free to browse upcoming availability.

Note that two types of sessions exist in the scheduler:

(1) “open” sessions (appearing in the teal colour) that you can schedule for yourself directly and immediately, right here (these tend to book up 1-3 months in advance, though some earlier appointments may appear);

(2) secondary availability for sooner support or for crisis sessions, labelled “contact to book”, any one of which may or may not be available at any given time, depending on my range of professional activities on that day/week. This is why you need to check in about these sessions first, before you can book in, to ensure that your desired session time is in fact available.

Feel free to email me at allison@ottawapsychotherapycenter.com with any questions you may have, or to request a sooner appointment (i.e., name a few options over a period of a week or two, so that we can best ensure the aligning of our schedules, to offer the best chance at the soonest support possible).

Wherever you find yourself at this moment, there is possibility. Sometimes our toughest moments can give way to transformative discoveries; sometimes the best we can do is learn to weather the storm.

I approach therapy from an attachment-based, trauma-informed, somatically-oriented perspective. This means that I attend to emotions, experiences, relationship patterns, and bodily felt sense throughout the therapeutic process. I incorporate tools from various modalities according to each client’s particular needs, prioritizing our alliance in working together.

I work with individuals, couples, and families. Some of my areas of focus for therapy are personal growth, mood and wellbeing, relationships of all kinds, grief, life transitions, trauma, perinatal support, and parenting.

I value kindness and curiosity and I strongly believe in each person’s capacity for resilience. I would be honoured to accompany you in building the life you want for yourself.
